it's too bad the "Really makes you think, you know? Or makes you die, depending. Either it makes you think, or else it’ll kill you" line was cut out of this because it went so hard that I bookmarked it in a file of favourite quotes lol.
I haven't read the other two, but I thought that The Power actually handled trans and gender non-conforming folks in a decently nuanced way! There were at least two AMAB characters who had the Special Woman Power and faced gendered violence because of it, which read to me like a pretty pointed comment about how treating chromosomes like destiny hurts trans and gnc people. That nuance sure doesn't come across in the reviews, though.
Every trans person outed, and/or dying, at once. Now THAT'S a horror premise that gives me pause. Which is to say, I'm looking forward to the fanfics that make this actually interesting.

It was not a good series. I read the whole thing because I wanted to know how it ended. It...wasn't worth it :(
