Toddlers are so fun. My son was a toddler in a dorm where we lived when I was on staff, and so he had lots of older siblings to hang out with and visit big trucks and vehicles. One of them said hanging out with my kid was like being with a little old man who was tipsy or tripping. He wasn't quite this chatty, but he did need to touch and try everything. He also asked about everything that was written before he could read, including graffiti! Just so he could repeat it. I will never forget him chanting "don't step over the line, bitch..." which a student had written on the ground.
I sing Good Morning to my kids in the morning, but I changed the lyrics to "you slept the whole night through!" once they finally started sleeping through the night. A cause for celebration!
One of my kids had strong pronoun reversal (and even now at 18 yo it still occasionally happens). It's impossible to explain to a little kid why it's wrong! It's much more logical to think that "you" is your personal pronoun.
no and trying to explain it is so impossible. "I say I when I'm talking about myself. You say I when you're talking about yourself. And what's the name of the guy on first," et cetera.
My cousin's little boy is also obsessed with Robin Hood, and even confused my mom, "Aunt Mary Ann," with "Maid Marian"! I am so heartened that the next generation is still learning these folk tales.
I have a 22 month old and reading your posts is very fun for a probably sneak peek into the future. That level of sentence construction feels like MAGIC, I'm excited
also i was discussing singing in the rain last night, but about what a great triad the main characters would be (we were looking through a fanfic author's oeuvre)
