We completely and immediately lost the fight between our now-11-month-old and our terrier's lick fever. He was allowed feet. Sometimes he managed knees and even hands. But all he wanted, wants, will ever want, is to lick her eyeballs.

Rocco is a beaut, truly.

Marvelous news. My 10 year old is very entertained by all stories of the dogs and last night requested a dramatic reading of several Mr Wilson tales after I shared this. Congratulations on the gorgeous tiny addition!!

What beautiful photos. I loved Grace’s tweet about the “lambent carefulness” of early mornings with babies. Did have to look up “lambent” but now love it and feel it’s the perfect word to describe that feeling and set of movements. Our twins are nearly 15 months old. Our dog did lick their feet all the time and now is so happy when she gets to lick an outstretched “banana hand” from a high chair. “Yogurt hand” also primo. We hope it’s fine?

I just looked up the meaning of lambent out of curiosity and it comes from a latin word meaning “to lick”!

Shouldn't you at least check whether your baby is delicious? Okay, that's not really actionable information to have, but wouldn't it be better to know?

A quick google search told me that Rory Calhoun was an actor in Westerns, and I'm guessing he stood on two legs. But many of us do, so I'm not sure why he's the comparator for the doggos? Please help me understand.

You guys are such good parents!

I assume it comes from the classic Simpsons episode Two Dozen and One Greyhounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PaxLSxQblM

Yes, that's right! I watched that one a lot as a kid (it's how I eventually found out who Rory Calhoun was) so I say it a lot to the dogs.
