You’re everywhere!
[Less amiably] You’re everywhere
They’ve got you workin’!
You’re still here?
There’s probably no chance in hell anyone’s going to do the coffee hour tomorrow, is there?
I’ll be doing the coffee hour tomorrow, just like I do every Monday.
Well, there was no coffee all weekend.
I did the coffee hour this morning.
Well…
You know [Assistant] is out of town, and [Marketing Assistant] can’t do coffee hour if she has a tour coming through, and I don’t work Fridays or Saturdays. But I did it today, and I’ll do it tomorrow, just like normal.
If I don’t come through, send the Mounties after me.
There he is again
[Saw me making coffee earlier and sees me covering the front desk now] He does it all!
Am I going on the trip with you tomorrow? [No]
I’m just here for the dailies
They’re not ready yet. I’m working on them now
Dailies aren’t ready yet?
I’m working on them now
He’s not done with the dailies yet?
No, he’s doing them right now
Looks like he’s eating
I’m doing both. I’m just finishing my dinner. You want a bite of this toffee?
What is that, toffee? You know how much my rent is going up this year?
[She has some toffee]
So I’ll come back for the dailies in what, five minutes?
I took a call on my lunch break with the Betsy-Tacy Society, and the first thing anyone said was the organizer, “Someone had a stroke in church today. It’s All Saints’ Day, so the veil is thin, but this was getting too thin.”
I talked about the problems I have with writing, which mostly have to do with enjoying self-pity, martyrdom, inventing busywork for myself, and pretending I have no choice but to fritter my time away with it. Like all people who claim to wish they had more free time, I love being able to bludgeon other people with how busy and hardworking and how conscientious I am, and would deeply resent being given more free time.
If your mother-in-law comes back to my art class tomorrow — is your mother-in-law coming back to my art class tomorrow? [Yes] — she says she does calligraphy, so I got out my calligraphy paper for her.
Danny, you’re transgender?
Yeah
If you don’t mind my asking, when did you make the change?
About nine years ago
Gee…I knew [Redacted] was transgender, he’s always talking about it, but I didn’t know you were
Are you gonna put on the movie?
Yes, at 6:45.
It’s not 6:45 now?
No, it was Daylight Savings today.
So it’s almost 7?
No, it’s almost 6.
That’s not what this says.
You want me to change your watch?
Yeah, okay. Was this today?
Yeah, I been changing clocks and watches all day today.
Be sure you don’t wind them backwards. That’s bad luck. You gotta wind them forward until you get to the right time again.
I’m sorry, I already wound it backwards.
You better be careful.
You’re still here? What are you still doing here?
