People don’t get ulcers anymore because they cured ulcers! They won a Nobel for it, it’s such a cool story. I think you might enjoy the style of this article about it:

Yes! People used to complain or vocally worry about getting an ulcer because there wasn't really a way to cure it before we realized that we can treat it with antibiotics. (Also, a lot of people called heartburn an "ulcer," but colloquial and medical diagnosis has improved there as well.) The best part of curing ulcers is that doing so accidentally prevented most stomach cancer cases as well.

This movie reminds me of some of the worst nights of my life with an accuracy unlike any other movie I've seen. It made me so anxious that I do not think I could watch it a second time. 10/10, great film, highly recommended

A friend of mine once summarized Mikey and Nicky as "Elaine May catches you watching Goodfellas and forces you to smoke the whole pack," and I think about that a lot!

Elaine May is the poet laurate of "Are Men OK? LOL Of Course Not." this movie is hard as hell to watch - in particular, the way Falk (as you note) keeps acting like "the reasonable one" and then does something every bit as awful as Cassavettes.

This is great. Thank you! I can read a lot of critique of Mikey and Nicky, because it’s is a very rich stew that I can’t really understand, but that I find fascinating.

It is indeed surprisingly difficult to escape Philadelphia.

I feel precisely this way about Brooklyn, which to me feels less like a city and more a 30-year experiment in Stockholm Syndrome.

Ironically I might move to Brooklyn.

Don’t let my bad attitude influence you! Many people seem to like it. May your move be easy, if you make it.

Amazing review and I must watch this now despite finding Peter Falk kind of annoying (apologies)
