“A rag, a bone, and a hank of hair” is the best description of the dog Murphy I ever came across, tending more towards the bone side of thing as he began to lose weight this year and for the first time I noticed a change in his dogweight, the feeling peculiar to your particular dog as he settles on your lap.
I'm so sorry that your pup is on his way out. But I am glad that he had so many opportunities to have his dogweight measured by someone who loved him. Sending love to both of you. <3 <3
😭I'm so sorry, Danny. He was well loved. I'm currently reading the Dog Poems section of Mary Oliver's _Devotions_ and it's stirring up all the thoughts I've had about the dogs I grew up with and how did this room get so dusty
I’m so sorry for you and your sweet little buddy. I have really loved seeing your posts of him on Instagram—my partners have, too, as 9/10 of such posts have immediately resulted in me shoving my phone in their faces going, “WOULD YOU LOOK AT THIS DOGGO!”—and I’m really sorry to hear this. Glad he was so well loved.
How beautifully you capture the exact sadness of this (and I remember the shift in catweight and that I knew what it meant, but I could never have said that, until reading this). And of course the Indiana Jones comparison is perfect. I am so sorry for your loss.
I too remember the difference in catweight. And even years later, I recall the special way she pressed her catweight into me. It's truly unique per individual - I'm friends with a cat who weighs the same as the dearly departed, but she doesn't feel the same in my lap. Hugs all around.
I lost a pug named Chloe's dogweight this past September. I am sending you and Grace much love. I am sure Chloe be there to greet Murphy at the rainbow bridge.

I'm thinking of you and Murphy through this difficult time. Thank you for sharing this post about him with us.

This was beautiful to read, and my heart hurts for you and Grace. 💜 You are in my thoughts.
Sending such love.
