I’ve been keeping up my regular mutual aid shifts and started training for jail support work in Brooklyn later this week, trying to find ways to support my community in medium- and long-term ways in addition to the ongoing protests.
Not a new sandwich, but had it for the first time in a while: thinly sliced apples, smoked turkey (tofurky), cheese (chao), arugula, with mustard on wheat. The apples make it seem really classy! and then you get extra apple slices on the side, just like a brown bag lunch.
Really excited to read the long version of Prodigal Son :D
Thank you so much for the link to action items in honor of Breonna Taylor! I've signed, donated, and even dug out some old birthday cards to mail out. I really appreciate being able to do anything! (Also, I'm very much looking forward to your longer-form Prodigal Son, because your post took my breath away.)
I gave away most of our household cloth masks to jail support-- I've been making them pretty obsessively since March, but had just had a big batch picked up by my local mutual aid org right before this weekend's mass arrests. So now I'm frantically making more in case more are needed this weekend, and to replenish our own stock so we don't have to use the communal laundry machines too often. And the "grow your own mushrooms" kit I got a few weeks ago has finally started growing some mushrooms! I thought my apartment might be too warm for them, but I forgot to check yesterday and today sure enough there they were. They're about an inch tall but should grow rapidly from here.
I've been researching jail support want to help. Where can I find more info/get involved?
Re: Grey's Anatomy - A few months ago I started putting it on for my dog, Phoebe (we saw you in the East Village around the same time! She is an old Corgi) when I leave the house and have mostly ended up rewatching it myself from the very beginning.
